So those of you who watched Raw last night saw that Kane did indeed put the mask back on. And it looked pretty damn cool. He even cut a pretty kick ass promo explaining how he was forced to remove his mask, and he hoped that it would make people treat him like a normal people. But instead people just stared. Meanwhile, Rey continues to wear his mask, and people love him for it.
It was seemingly setting up Kane returning to his masked ways, but under his terms.
But instead, after about 30 seconds of wearing the mask, he removed it. And he wasn't seen with it again. Sigh....
As I've said before, there aren't many Superstars out there as bland and stale as Kane. Something as simple as putting his mask back on would have REALLY freshened up his character. This was the perfect opportunity to do that, and I think they made a huge mistake not taking advantage of it. Just listen to the crowd's reaction when they saw the classic red mask.

They could even have some fun with it, like having Kane walk to the ring without the mask, and then putting it on for his matches. Slightly less cool, but still acceptable, would be for him to wear it during his promos. It would have been SOMETHING new.
Anyway, enjoy it while you can. Here's the promo:

I must say, Kane's promo, mask or not, was pretty awesome. Now that he's past the whole yelling thing, past the whole slow, methodical way of talking, and he just gets to the point, he's a lot better than ever in terms of his promo game.
Another thing I like about Kane's promos in general is that the production crew does something a little different for him. Unlike most promos, where it's a pretty straight forward interview (with or without a backstage announcer), with Kane, they turn on the red lighting and play his entrance music in the background. It's something different.
And that, going back to my original point, is why I was so excited to see him possibly wearing the mask again. Honestly, I just feel like nothing about Kane has changed in the past six years.
